Potluck Sessions 3: A Creative Sharing Platform That Enables Big Ideas

Inspiration can be found anywhere; in this case, a cozy corner café in Makati where the third run of our Potluck Sessions was organized. This non-profit collaborative event brings people together over tasty food, good coffee and an interesting line up of speakers – industry experts and impassioned individuals willing to talk about their own creative journeys. From pop culture wisdom, responsible pet ownership to the art of coffee painting, each diverse topic hopes to enthuse motivation and stir up vision while building a culture of sharing.

Just like our previous sessions, the only cost to participate is to bring a dish you’d like to share with the rest of the group.  This idea was born out of an equal love of eating and learning. It started out as a studio exercise then grew into a unique avenue of meeting new people in a stimulating yet laid-back atmosphere. The feedback we get from attendees who were pushed to pursue their own creative projects or business ideas afterwards makes us want to keep things free and voluntary. It reminds us we’re going in the right direction.

Potluck Session’s latest installment held at Commune in Poblacion, Makati had the presenters dabble in easily relatable themes and captivated the audience with their light-hearted deliveries. Internationally renowned furniture and interior designer Ito Kish narrated the humble beginnings of his colorful life as a visual storyteller. Sky Gavin of When in Manila spoke about what it’s like to work in one of the most influential blog sites in the metro. I shared some tips in graphic design by using clichéd break-up lines to summarize basic visual concepts. Artist Reese Lansangan sang a different tune talking about making unconventional music and writing weird lyrics as a singer songwriter. Ending the afternoon on a bubbly note, a craft beer tasting workshop led by Claudine Lanzona of Craftpoint brewing company wrapped up the event and left everyone in high spirits.

To those who have missed this session, don’t worry because you still have the opportunity to join our next run.  Follow us on Facebook (@StudioOliviaRepotenteInc) and Instagram (@StudioOInc) for announcements.

A big shout out to our Event Partners: Independent Minds, Abakada Foundation, Commune, Crumbslist, Manly Plastics, Central Corrugated, Buffalo Wings and Things, Taters and Bath Origins for the continuous support.

Studio O Talks: Designing Identities, Creating Experiences

It was a Saturday well-spent with the talented students of UST CFAD as Studio O held a talk and workshop on Brand Identity and Experience Design. It was such a privilege to have collaborated with TOUCHPOINT, also known as THE Advertising Arts Organization of the UST College of Fine Arts and Design, no less. And we would again (and again) like to thank them for inviting us and for being so driven, professional and passionate. You guys rock! \m/

Our vision was to share the studio’s creative process & design philosophy that aimed to provide a roadmap for the students in the succeeding workshop. They were tasked to apply what they’ve learned by designing their own proposed brand identity for a particular client. This helps them get a feel of an actual professional project scenario. We were so fortunate to have the amazing people of Hinge Inquirer participate as ‘The Client’ for this exercise. Big thanks to them for giving the students a challenging (but of course fun) time developing brand identity concepts for their signature event “Backyard Grill”.
