Font Focus: Geo Sans Light

font-focus-geo-sans-light

Geo Sans Light. A sans serif font. Tried in different sizes, black and white, regular and oblique, some with a 0.25 pt stroke. Even when the paragraph starts to get cramped, the lightness of this font still allows it to breathe. My favorite parts: the slender ascenders, the perfect circle O’s, how the ‘T’ ascender is slightly shorter than the rest. Font crush :) Check it here.

Cherry Coke

Homemade Maraschino Cherry Coke. It’s summah time and this is for when you want a sweet drink to freshen you up. BUT: do not drink soda everyday. The cherries I suppose can be eaten more often. Or the ice. While prepping this drink, may I suggest you listen to LFO’s Summer Girls. Haha. Remember when this was the shiz? Watch out for the “cherry coke” bit. Enjoy! (or not)

Essence In Manila

Good Stuff. Essence Soft Touch Mousse Makeup.

essence-1

essence-2

Essence invades Manila! Ok, it doesn’t really invade Manila, but it’s now in SM department stores. Actually, other shops might be selling it too. Plus I think it has been here for a while now so this is really no breaking news. Notice how everything I just said is nonsense? Hehe. Still I want to celebrate how I can finally buy em here yey! This right here is my first non-pasalubong Essence item. It’s my top-pick from their collection. A close second would be their Stay All Day cream shadows which I plan to talk about soon. I’m not so sure about their lip products but I’d still have to say this brand is a must-try, especially with those oh-so-friendly price tags. You can know more about the brand here. While you’re at it, check out The Biebs :)

Product Category ~ foundation
Texture ~ this is the main event of this product. The name does not lie. It really is soft to the touch. The light, easy-to-blend mousse dries into a smooth powdery finish. Fascinating.
Fragrance ~ unless you dunk your nose into the jar, it doesn’t really have a scent to it. For a lot of people, this is a big plus.
Coverage ~ sheer and light. Great for day makeup.
Packaging ~ props to the stout jar that’s so stable and easy to store. The wide rim allows me to get the product out with my fingers, a brush or a sponge effortlessly.
Price ~ really affordable. The 16g jar goes for 250-ish pesos. Pretty good eh?

If you’re more interested in tiramisu cheesecakes than makeup, the best I’ve had so far is from Opus. You might wanna check that out :)

Hotnuts

Hotcake Batter Donuts. For this one you will need a pack of hotcake mix, a donut maker (this is what I have), powdered sugar, milk or water, maple syrup and butter. While doing this I realized I want to try this in chocolate chip or cheese sometime. I’ll let you know how that goes. In the mean time, hope you guys enjoy this :)

Olive Is Good For You

Good Stuff. Products named after me. Weh. There are probably more sane reasons for me to buy olive products than just getting a kick out of seeing (what I feel is) my name printed on the packaging. Check this, this and this out. I also listed down a few favorites below :)

Pinterest for the Old-school

Just Sharing: Keeping An Inspiration Journal. In a world of pinterests, tumblrs, instagrams, and other photo-sharing services that are practically as ubiquitous as air, organizing (and sharing) images+words that inspire has never been so easy and fast. I love how efficient these babies are and I do use them from time to time plan to use them as soon as possible. However, I admit to still keeping a physical notebook as my inspiration journal, a kind not that different from the ones I made as a kid. Anything that makes me smile, laugh, or think, anything I want to remember, I stick in there. I don’t know, there’s something about the tactile quality of notebooks and the therapeutic motion of cutting and pasting paper that keeps me hooked, and how I can go over it  anytime I want without the need to log in, and how no one else can see it (uhm except now you’re seeing a few pages) — it’s just me and my notebook. I do recommend keeping one just for kicks, that is if you are willing to do the extra ‘paperwork’.

The Eyelash Project

Experiment. I notice that lashes, over time, lose their length and volume due to constant lash curling, mascara application and removal, not to mention aging (horrified scream here). So I decided to give my own some much needed TLC to send them back to their happy state. I scouted a few lash care products and this one intrigued me the most – Etude House Dr. Lash Ampule Long & Volume (long and volume? heehee). It’s a lash care kit that contains a night serum, a day essence that doubles as a primer, and lash rulers so you can measure your progress. It is supposed to strengthen your lashes and prevent breakage and fallout, in effect allowing them to grow to their full length and volume. Of course I noticed the pretty packaging too :)

And now to take this product for a road test. The packaging says you will see results in 4 weeks. Let’s see if this works for me.

~ Step 1: Use ruler provided in the kit to measure length of your lashes, top and bottom. Step 2: Apply lash serum at night, after cleansing your face. Step 3: When applying your makeup in the morning, use lash essence as a primer to your mascara. ~

My Data Sheet
For length, current measurements with no mascara or lash primer are:
Upper Lashes ~ 10mm
Lower Lashes ~ 6mm
For volume, I can’t really count how many pieces of lashes I have so I just have to do a visual evaluation for this one

Here we go. Today is Day 1. See y’all in 4 weeks! :)
